Couples in Crisis

Do you feel like you've reached the point where there's no hope for your relationship?

I know how distressing this can be. It hurts. But I think you're truly inspiring because you're here, showing up, seeking help. That's a huge step and for that, I salute you.

Now, let's be clear: coaching doesn't guarantee a happily-ever-after. Getting the help you need doesn't mean your relationship will magic itself back together. And to be really honest with you, sometimes an amicable ending is the healthiest outcome for everyone. But you're here. Asking for help. That's the first (BIG) step towards getting the help you need - for both of you and your partner. When you're both getting the support you need, you're so much more likely to get the happy ending you're hoping for. Or the tools you need to recover and thrive through resources like the Gottman Card Decks App.

In these sessions you will learn:

  • How to build a life together based on reconnection

  • How to feel seen and heard in your relationship

  • How to deal with conflict, especially after the event

  • How to identify the four major destroyers of relationships - and how to turn them around

Couples coaching sessions are delivered from my offices in Petersfield, Hampshire or online via Zoom.

I would like the help of a couples coach for my relationship

That’s amazing!! I know from experience that couples coaching is an investment you can make in your relationship that will benefit both of you (and the rest of your family!) for decades to come. The first thing to do if you're considering having sessions with me is to book a free 30-minute consultation. It will be important for you to decide whether my approach is suitable for your relationship and whether working together will achieve the goals you have for the relationship. Here are a couple of questions that can help you make the decision about working with me.

1. What are the challenges your relationship is facing right now?

2. What does success mean for you?

Now book a call and tell me your answers!

Naomi is totally present. She creates a very safe space in which you can open up.

Anyone in a relationship can benefit from couples therapy. You don't have to be married or have been together for very long. If you would like some support and ideas to improve your relationship, then couples therapy can help you.

Common reasons why people seek Couples therapy:

● The relationship has become distant

● You are not getting along well

● There has been a big fight (or lots of fights)

● Your partner has been unfaithful or you have cheated on your partner

● You are not having sex anymore

● Sex is not enjoyable for one or both of you

● There are problems with communication

● There are problem behaviours in the relationship

  • You will be offered a non-judgmental space to talk about your issues together with your therapist. If you choose sessions on Zoom then a private space in your home where you will not be overheard works best. You may choose to come to our therapy space in Petersfield, Hampshire for your sessions.

Your therapist will offer you some tools to help you have effective conversations. They will guide you on how to overcome problem areas and how to improve your connection.

Initially, our 4 session assessment process gives you both an equal opportunity to express what you feel the current issues are. As the therapy progresses, the aim is to encourage your partner to hear what you're saying and vice versa. That way you both begin to see the bigger picture of what is going on between you. You'll both be given help to really listen and try to understand each other's points of view.

  • At the start of therapy, your therapist will discuss your needs and what you would like to get out of the sessions. Based on this, your therapist will recommend a number of sessions usually between five and twenty. They all may also suggest you leave the duration open-ended so you can choose when to end the therapy.

  • The hourly rate for couples therapy is £90 per hour. At the time of booking your session, you will receive an invoice via email which will be due the day before the session date.

  • The amount of sessions you will need is worked out in conversation with your therapist during the assessment process. It will vary depending on what you want to achieve and at what intensity the sessions can be paced.

  • No, appointments can be scheduled to fit your needs. Our therapists work some evenings both online and in person.

  • Couples therapy is based on mutuality and trust. Our assessment process enables you to get comfortable with talking to your therapist. You will also complete an individual online questionnaire leading to a Couple Report which will show you both where the strengths and challenges of the relationship lie. If a course of therapy is suitable for you as a couple your therapist will make some recommendations for how long the work should take and what it will involve.

  • Couples therapy is a self-referral service.

  • Our therapists have trained with the Gottman Institute in couples therapy. Additionally, all therapists are qualified in relevant psychological specialties such as counselling, coaching, and hypnotherapy and hold registration with the relevant governing organisations.

  • Our therapists are able to work with a limited number of clients at a reduced rate but these places fill up very quickly. If you think you qualify for a reduced rate of counselling please indicate this in your introductory call.

  • Your therapist will work with you to book sessions at a pace that fits your lifestyle. If you would like to book sessions in advance your therapist will help with this.

  • Yes. Both before the decision to separate has been made and in the aftermath of a split therapy can help individuals to make sense of what is happening, understand their own needs and desires and make a plan for thriving.

  • Yes. As part of the assessment process you will both have an individual session with your therapist.

  • This is a common problem and it can be tricky because it's important that both parties are willing participants in order for the therapy to be successful. The only advice we give is that despite the fact that relationship counselling can be difficult at first, it does get easier. Avoiding problems in your relationship doesn't make them go away. All that tends to happen is the problems fester and get worse. It's extremely rare for people to regret taking the decision to have therapy. More often than not, couples wish they'd done it months or even years earlier. We also offer individual relationship therapy, designed to help individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships, even if your partner is not willing to participate in therapy.

  • All sessions can be cancelled or rearranged up to 24 hours before.
