Have You Listened to my Podcast Yet?
There’s a strange thing that happens when you become the person people turn to for advice. There’s an unspoken pressure to have it all figured out. But the truth is, my life—and my relationship—is a laboratory where I am constantly learning, messing up, and trying again.
On our latest CouplesTalk Podcast episode, "Shut Up and Just Copy and Paste", I decided to pull back the curtain on that process in a way that felt both scary and necessary.
The episode is all about the tricky, tangled dance of codependency. It's about that deep-seated impulse to help, which can so easily curdle into control. In it, I share some personal stories about my own struggles with these patterns—the failures that have been my greatest teachers and the darker thoughts that come with trying to unlearn a lifetime of conditioning.
To be honest, my finger hovered over the 'delete' button more than once. It’s challenging to speak about the parts of yourself you’re still working on, especially in a public forum. But I believe so strongly that vulnerability is the antidote to shame. By sharing my messy bits, I hope to make a little more room for you to be honest about yours.
If you’ve ever felt exhausted from trying to manage everyone else's feelings or felt your own needs getting lost in the shuffle, this one's for you.
I would love to continue this conversation. What have your challenges with codependency taught you? I’d love you share with me via email or a DM on my social media.
Let's be imperfect and real, together.
With courage,
