Hi, I'm Naomi Light
Couples Psychotherapist, Relationship Specialist, podcaster and creator of The Rewiring Love Method.
I help high-capacity partners and individuals move out of automated biological threat responses and rebuild safe, resilient, and deeply intimate partnerships—face-to-face in Petersfield, Hampshire, and securely online across the UK.
Love is a biological skill, not just a feeling.
For years, we have been sold a cultural fairytale: that love is an effortless emotion that simply happens to us, and that if a relationship becomes hard, volatile, or distant, we must have chosen the wrong person. In my clinical practice in Hampshire and in my Substack publication, Rewiring Love, I push back against this myth. Lasting connection isn't about finding a flawless partner or relying on vague "communication tips". It is about understanding how your primitive nervous systems interact under stress.
From biological threat loop to secure connection
When partners arrive in my consulting room, they are rarely lacking love—they are exhausted. They are trapped in their Primitive Brain. In this biological state of fight, flight, or freeze, the person you once chose as your safest harbour suddenly looks and feels like an emotional threat.
My work is not about polite nodding, passive listening, or assigning blame. It is about giving you concrete, somatic, and psychological tools to de-escalate biological flooding in real time so you can stop walking on eggshells, speak with radical honesty, and feel safe in each other's arms again.
I’m a wife, mother and a lifelong overachiever…
Beyond my clinical credentials, I live the daily reality of the dynamics I teach. I am married to my husband, Nick, and together we are raising three teenage children in the Hampshire countryside—a daily masterclass in negotiation, emotional regulation, and authentic connection.
To recharge, I head outdoors for long country walks under clear, sunny skies, or retreat into my default state as an unrepentant book nerd. As a lifelong overachiever, I hold an absurd internal expectation that I should be able to read and absorb three dense books a week (and am continuously disappointed when reality fails to match my ambition!).
I bring that blend of high standards, intellectual rigour, and warmth to every client I support.

Yes. ‘Roommate syndrome’ is not evidence that you are fundamentally incompatible or that love has died; it is the natural consequence of years of unaddressed domestic stress, unequal mental loads, and unexpressed resentment. When partners operate primarily as household administrators and co-parents, the nervous system shifts into a functional survival mode where emotional and physical vulnerability no longer feels safe. Through The Rewiring Love Method, we address the unspoken domestic grievances that extinguish desire, install practical nervous-system regulation tools, and help you shift from polite co-ordinators back into deeply connected intimate partners.

You do not have a communication problem; your nervous systems are caught in an automated biological threat loop. When chronic resentment accumulates, an everyday comment about domestic chores or family schedules is perceived by the primitive brain as a personal attack, triggering an instant fight, flight, or freeze response. Traditional advice like "use 'I' statements" fails because your heart rate is elevated and the rational brain is temporarily offline. We learn about your threat responses and equip you with real-time physiological de-escalation tools to halt arguments before words are weaponised, allowing you to resolve practical issues calmly.

Scepticism is completely understandable. Most hesitant partners avoid therapy because they dread being ganged up on, blamed, or subjected to open-ended emotional interrogation. Our practice is practical, structured, and strictly multi-partial: we never take sides, assign villains, or pathologise either person. Furthermore, you do not need both people in the room to begin making progress. Through Individual Relationship Crossroads work, one partner learning to interrupt their half of the defensive dance fundamentally shifts the dynamic of the entire marriage.

We begin with a focused 30-minute discovery call via Zoom to explore your current situation, ensure we are a good clinical fit, and answer any questions you have. From there, you can move straight into targeted couples therapy—either through regular 90-minute joint sessions (online or in-person in Petersfield) or via an intensive 1- to 2-day private retreat. In our very first working session, we dive straight into mapping your primary conflict loops and identifying the biological triggers keeping you stuck, giving you practical containment and relief from day one.

I maintain strict multi-partiality: I do not take sides, assign blame, or declare winners. The problem in our room is never either individual partner; it is the destructive threat pattern you are caught within. If tempers flare or conversations become volatile, I provide an active, calm, and contained presence. Using somatic co-regulation, we pause the escalation immediately so that neither partner is emotionally flooded or re-traumatised, ensuring the space remains physically and psychologically secure for both of you.
